Task Descriptions

The Youth Referee Coordinator helps manage the Youth Referee program for Region 35:
  • Help with Recruiting:  Fliers, Visits to schools or team practices, phone explanations to parents and kids
  • Facilitate:  Be available to answer questions
  • Support:  Kid Zone monitoring (sampling) on game day, keep adults aware of Zero Tolerance for Youth Referee disrespect
  • Thank:  With RRA, coordinate special talks, events

The Extra Programs Assistant Referee Administrator (XC) helps the RRA coordinate Referee recruitment and tracking for the Extra Programs (PCSSL, BAFSL, Extra, Select, Major Tournaments, Etc.).
  • Tracking ref slots for Select R35 games
  • Work with Select Coaches to recruit refs from Select teams' parents




The Referee Equipment Coordinator (RefEquip) helps the RRA coordinate Referee Equipment needs and tracking.
  • Sizes of new referees, orders to coordinate
  • Maintain accurate inventories of books, whistles, uniforms, hats, awards, etc.
  • Help pass out equipment as needed
  • Help plan for "bonus" items for highest game counts
  • Keep Ref storage area secure and neat.



The Regional Assistant Referee Administrator (RARA) assists the RRA in all tasks, and serves during his/her absence.  Preparation for taking over (alternating) as RRA (Board Member)
Volunteer (Job) Requirements

The Youth Referee Coordinators Needs:
  • Volunteer Form (update each school year)
  • Safe Haven Certification (online)
  • Other Training as Required
  • Basic Referee Training not required, but encouraged
  • Need to be encouraging and patient with teens

Expected Time for YC:  2 hours each week (maybe a little more during early season recruiting).  If we can get more than one this could be split up.

The Extra Program Assistant Referee Administrator Needs:

  • Volunteer Form (update each school year)
  • Safe Haven Certification (online)
  • Other Training as Required
  • Basic Referee Training not required, but encouraged
  • Willingness to scour multiple websites for slots vs refs
Expected Time for XC:  2-4 hours each week (maybe a little more during early season recruiting).  If we can get more than one this could be reduced.


The Referee Equipment Coordinator Needs:

  • Volunteer Form (update each school year)
  • Safe Haven Certification (online)
  • Other Training as Required
  • Basic Referee Training not required, but encouraged
  • Willingness to keep accurate records
Expected Time for XC:  1-2 hours each week during main season, 5 hours per week preseason and first weeks

The Referee Equipment Coordinator Needs:

  • Volunteer Form (update each school year)
  • Safe Haven Certification (online)
  • Basic Referee Training required
  • Other Training as Required, including Regional Board (Management Basic; can be done on-the-job)
  • AYSO Philosophies, and the desire to help get trained refs to every game
Expected Time for RARA:  2-4 hours each week during main season, 3-5 hours per planning weeks between seasons
